A man and woman were arrested earlier this month following a reported disturbance on Phoenix Street that escalated into violence and threats involving a weapon.
According to Canandaigua Police, officers responded to the scene around 6:21 p.m. on October 11. After an investigation, 36-year-old Amanda Skinner and 36-year-old Kirk Milstead, both of Canandaigua, were taken into custody.
Police say Milstead shoved another person, causing them to fall and injure their leg. When someone else tried to intervene, Milstead allegedly pulled a knife and threatened them — all while a young child was present.
During the investigation, Skinner reportedly attempted to interfere with officers as Milstead was being detained. After ignoring commands to stop, police say she dug her nails into an officer’s arm.
Milstead was charged with Assault in the Third Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Menacing in the Second Degree. Skinner was charged with Assault in the Third Degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration.
Both were taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
