A Yates County woman has been charged in connection with the death of her five-month-old child.
Back on March 20th, first responders were called to a residence in the village of Dundee for the report of an unresponsive infant. Emergency care was provided on the scene before the child was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital and pronounced dead.
On Thursday, 34-year-old Samantha Crane, of Dundee, was arrested on a felony charge of criminally negligent homicide. No other details of the investigation were released.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, criminally negligent homicide is defined as “a person who causes the death of another person with criminal negligence.”
Following her arraignment, Crane was being held at the Yates County Jail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
