Branchport Woman Accused of Refusing to Leave Penn Yan Police Dept.

A Branchport woman is facing a new charges stemming from a previous arrest.

After being arrested for an incident that happened in the village of Penn Yan on January 19th, Joanna Rutherford is accused of illegally remaining in a secure area of the Penn Yan Police Department after she had been served an appearance attack. Rutherford is accused of leaving the secure area after being ordered to leave multiple times by police.

Rutherford was charged with criminal mischief and released on an appearance ticket for Penn Yan Village Court/

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
