A Bath woman is facing drunk driving charges after a Sunday night crash that killed a dog.
Police say the crash happened around 9 p.m. at the intersection of West Washington and West Moore streets, when a car failed to negotiate a turn and struck a utility pole.
The driver, 43-year-old Courtney Clark, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. A dog in the vehicle died from its injuries.
Officers suspected Clark was under the influence of alcohol. Tests showed a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher, leading to charges of driving while intoxicated.
Clark was released on an appearance ticket and is due back in court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
