The 22-year-old Bath man arrested last week on several felony charges related to the rape and sexual abuse of a person under the age of 17.
Bath Police and State Troopers arrested Coby Causer last Tuesday following an investigation that began the previous day. Causer’s initial report of the alleged crimes was received on Monday, leading to Causer’s arrest the next morning.
The Bath Volunteer Fire Department has issued a statement acknowledging the arrest, emphasizing that the situation is being taken seriously and handled appropriately. The firefighter has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the legal process. The department is cooperating fully with authorities and will take further action as needed.
“At this time, no assumptions will be made until the facts are confirmed and due process is complete,” the department said. “The trust of our community means everything to us, and we remain committed to serving with professionalism, integrity, and transparency.”
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
