On Wednesday, the New York State Police in Bath arrested Zachary Preston, 26, following a multi-month investigation into an incident involving a 13-year-old female.
Preston has been charged with Rape in the Second Degree, a class D felony. State Police initiated the investigation in September 2025 and located Preston in the town of Bath, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Following his arrest, Preston was processed at the state police barracks in Bath and transported to the Steuben County Jail to await centralized arraignment. Authorities confirmed that orders of protection have been issued on behalf of the victim.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
