A Bath man was arrested Friday night after police say they found a gun that he was prohibited from owning during a traffic stop.
According to the Village of Bath Police Department, 42-year-old Noel Campbell was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony. Officers stopped a vehicle on Kingsley Street around 8:39 p.m. after observing multiple traffic violations. During the stop, a firearm was seen in plain view.
An investigation revealed that Campbell, a convicted felon, owned the gun illegally. He was processed, taken to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment, and later released.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
