Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on Tuesday, investigators arrested 62-year-old John Shelf II of Bath.
Shelf is accused of using another person’s benefit card and PIN on May 19 to obtain benefits he was not entitled to. He faces charges of Misuse of Food Stamps and Petit Larceny.
Shelf was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to the Village of Bath Court.
Sheriff Allard thanked the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit and the District Attorney’s Office for their assistance in the investigation.
