On Tuesday, members of the Village of Bath Police Department arrested a local man following a physical fight in the area of West Morris Street.
Jackie Fisher, 52, was taken into custody on an active warrant that had been issued following an incident on Saturday, February 28. Police allege that on that date, Fisher struck a female in the head at a residence on West Steuben Street, causing a laceration to her eyebrow. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Fisher had fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.
On Tuesday afternoon, officers responded to a report of a physical fight in progress near Tops and identified Fisher as being involved. He was subsequently arrested on the outstanding warrant and charged with one count of Assault in the Third Degree.
Fisher was transported to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment. Despite a criminal history involving four felony and 21 misdemeanor convictions, Fisher was released on his own recognizance.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
