Bath Man Arrested Following Domestic Incident

SHARE NOW

Last Monday, the Village of Bath Police Department responded to a report of a domestic incident at a residence on West Morris Street.

Officers made contact with a female victim who appeared to be injured and identified the suspect as 43-year-old Robert Wright, of Bath. When officers attempted to detain Wright, he physically resisted, prompting the use of a drive stun taser for compliance. Despite being handcuffed, Wright continued to resist until backup officers assisted in securing him into a patrol vehicle.

Investigation revealed that Wright had choked the victim prior to police arrival. He was arrested and charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, and Resisting Arrest, all Class A misdemeanors. Wright was processed and transported to Steuben County Jail for arraignment, where he remains in custody with the opportunity for bail.

The Village of Bath Police Department thanked the New York State Police and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the arrest.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
