A Bath man is facing multiple charges, including making a terroristic threat, after allegedly leading deputies on a high-speed chase and claiming to have a bomb during his arrest.
According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Thomas B. Stark was stopped after reportedly driving over 100 miles per hour on State Route 415 in the towns of Campbell and Bath while intoxicated and with a suspended or revoked license.
Deputies say Stark fled the traffic stop in the Village of Savona and was tracked down by K9 Tripp. During his apprehension, he allegedly threatened deputies with serious harm by claiming he had a bomb.
Stark was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat (a Class D felony), Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree, Speeding, Consuming Alcohol While Operating a Vehicle, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree.
He was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Court and held on $1 cash bail. Stark later appeared in Bath Town Court on June 11 and was released.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
