A Bath man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
Police were called to 56 Liberty Street in the Steuben County village for a report of someone throwing rubbish that was set on fire out of a second-story window while making statements to harm others. A passerby put out the fire before first responders arrived on the scene.
After their investigation, Bath Police attempted to place Dominick Hawley into custody but he reportedly became combative and resisted. The 28-year-old was eventually charged with attempted arson, making a terroristic threat and assault, all felonies.
Hawley is being held on bail at the Steuben County Jail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
