Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 72-year-old Aurelius woman following a dispute with a neighbor.
Deputies say they were called, along with State Police, to a home in Aurelius around 4:05 p.m. on September 26 for a complaint involving threats. A neighbor reported that JoAnne Reeves had threatened her and menaced her with a shovel.
Following an investigation, Reeves was charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation.
She was taken to Centralized Arraignment, where a judge issued an order of protection. Reeves was released and is scheduled to appear in Aurelius Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
