Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck reports that a Tonawanda man has been charged following a theft investigation at the Bass Pro Shops in Aurelius.
Deputies arrested 35-year-old Paul Tagliarino on July 9 and charged him with Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor. The charge stems from an investigation that began on April 9, when deputies responded to a reported theft at the store.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Tagliarino entered the store multiple times over several weeks. During each visit, he allegedly paid for some merchandise while concealing and stealing additional items, leaving the store without paying for them.
Tagliarino later turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office. He was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Aurelius Court on July 30.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
