An Auburn woman is charged with Felony DWI following a traffic stop in the area of John and Genesee Streets in the city.
On January 30th, a Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputy was on patrol in the area of Arterial West when they observed a vehicle committing traffic infractions. A traffic stop was initiated and the deputy made contact with the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle. The deputy said during the traffic stop, Kerry Hoffman showed signs of intoxication and was administered standardized field sobriety tests. Upon completion, Hoffman was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
The charge became a felony after it was learned Hoffman had a previous DWI conviction within the last ten years. She was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while registration was suspended.
Hoffman was released to appear in court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
