Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck says deputies arrested 58-year-old Carrie Hanno on December 19 on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
Deputies were called at about 4:51 p.m. to the area of East Genesee Street Road and Beech Road in the Town of Sennett for a reported motor vehicle accident. A witness told deputies the vehicle had been traveling westbound erratically before leaving the roadway and entering a ditch.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with Hanno, who was identified as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. After conducting standardized field sobriety tests, deputies determined there was probable cause to place her under arrest.
Hanno was taken into custody at approximately 5:24 p.m. and transported to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building, where she provided a chemical breath test. Authorities say the test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.19 percent.
Hanno was issued uniform traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Sennett Town Court on January 7, 2026.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
