An Auburn woman has been arrested following an investigation into a series of retail thefts.
Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputies say 39-year-old Jennifer Smith stole multiple items from Walmart in Auburn on several occasions, then sold the stolen goods at a local pawn shop.
Following the investigation, Smith was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and three counts of first-degree falsifying business records, all Class E felonies.
She was processed at the Sheriff’s Office, arraigned in Auburn City Court, and sent to the Cayuga County Jail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
