Auburn Man Charged With Felonies Following Incident at Cayuga Inn

SHARE NOW

An Auburn man was arrested on three felony charges after police were called to the Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes Sunday night for a reported physical domestic.

An anonymous caller reported that they could hear a man and a woman physically fighting inside of a room. Upon arrival, Auburn Police found the victim crying with visible marks on her from the altercation. Shortly thereafter, officers located the suspect who initially gave a fictitious name but was later identified as William Burgdoff.

Officers said they learned Burgdoff had a physical altercation with the victim while a full stay-away order of protection was active between them.

Burgdoff was charged with aggravated contempt, aggravated family offense, and criminal contempt, all felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of criminal contempt, criminal impersonation, and harassment.

Burgdoff was sent to Cayuga County Jail to await arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
