Auburn Man Arrested on Welfare Fraud and Grand Larceny Charges

SHARE NOW

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office reports that 55-year-old Robert Dreher of Auburn was arrested on October 15 on an outstanding felony warrant issued by Auburn City Court.

The warrant stems from an investigation by the Department of Social Services Case Integrity Unit, which found that Dreher failed to report income, resulting in overpaid benefits. He was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud, and misuse of food stamps, all classified as E felonies.

Dreher was processed at the Public Safety Building and turned over to the Cayuga County Jail to await arraignment. On October 16, he appeared in Auburn City Court and was released on his own recognizance.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
