Auburn Man Arrested on Felony Weapons and Criminal Contempt Charges

SHARE NOW

An Auburn man was arrested on felony charges of criminal contempt and criminal possession of a weapon following an incident on Warren Avenue Sunday night.

Police say they were called to a residence for the report of an order of protection violation. It is alleged that Islam Alim went to the victim’s home unannounced and confronted her about another person at her residence. It is also alleged that Alim displayed a knife during the incident, which put the victim in fear for her physical safety. The victim’s five-year-old child was standing near Alim and the victim at the time the knife was allegedly displayed. Alim had left the scene before officers arrived, but was later found at his residence, where he was taken into custody without incident.

In addition to the two felonies, Alim was charged with menacing and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

Alim was being held at the Cayuga County Jail to await arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
