A local man is facing charges after police investigated a reported fight in the parking lot of Lowes on Grant Avenue Road in the town of Sennett on January 22.
Upon arrival of Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputies, it was discovered the suspect, 20-year-old Conor Downer, had left the scene. An investigation revealed that Downer, along with another man, had engaged in a verbal altercation in the Lowes parking lot. At one point, the men separated and Downer began to leave in a car. It is alleged that Downer then got out of his car and struck the other person in the back with a wooden stick.
On Thursday, Downer was taken into custody by the Seneca Falls Police Department. He was turned over to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department and was brought to the Public Safety Building for arraignment on charges of attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Following his arraignment, Downer was sent to Cayuga County Jail in lieu of bail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
