Officers with the Auburn Police Department report taking a local man into custody following an investigation into a violent domestic incident that allegedly occurred in February.
Christopher Johnson, 30, was arrested at approximately 8:35 a.m. after police responded to an Auburn address on Friday to investigate the report. It is alleged that during the early morning hours of February 13, Johnson struck and choked a victim several times, causing injuries. During the multi-hour incident, Johnson allegedly used a pair of scissors to threaten the victim before throwing them toward a 6-year-old child who witnessed the event.
Johnson was charged with three counts of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, two counts of attempted second-degree Assault, third-degree Robbery, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Menacing in the second degree, fourth-degree Criminal Mischief, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, and second-degree Harassment.
Johnson was processed at the Auburn Police Department headquarters and transported to the Cayuga County Jail for arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
