Auburn Man Accused of Violating Order of Protection

SHARE NOW

An Auburn man was charged with a felony count of aggravated family offense after Auburn Police observed him walking with a person who has an active stay-away order of protection against him.

According to Auburn Police, Jeffrey Strachan, Senior, was walking with the victim in the area of Kwik Fill on State Street. The stay-away order of protection prohibits Strachan from being with or contacting the victim in any way. It was issued after a previous domestic incident.

Strachan was arrested without incident. While he was being taken into custody, police reported they found a quantity of crack cocaine on him.

Strachan also had a previous conviction of a specified family offense within the preceding five years, which adds a felony charge to this domestic incident.

In addition to Aggravated Family Offense, Strachan was charged with criminal contempt and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was brought to the Cayuga County Jail to await arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
