Auburn Police say they have arrested the man they believe is behind a series of bomb threats made to Auburn City Court.
On Wednesday, staff received a call from a man claiming there was a bomb in the building. Court Security Officers quickly searched the building and found nothing. The man called again later that day, making more threats. Investigators identified 31-year-old Leonard Hamilton Jr. as the person responsible. Hamilton had also made a bomb threat at Cayuga County Mental Health the day before.
Hamilton was charged on Thursday with falsely reporting an incident in the first degree, arraigned, and remains in custody.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
