The investigation into an early morning accident on April 15th in Yates County resulted in the arrest of a Penn Yan man.
The sheriff’s department alleges Brian Petersen crashed his car multiple times while heading south on State Route 54, hitting a mailbox outside of the village of Penn Yan, before striking a guide rail near Second Milo Road, causing damage to it. Peterson then continued south where he caused damage to another guide rail after striking it before crashing. Peterson was placed through a series of field sobriety tests before being arrested and taken to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office for a chemical breath test.
Peterson was charged with DWI Common Law, DWI .08 BAC or higher, unsafe lane change, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
