The driver of a car who allegedly struck a gate at the Nor-Win Campground in Lyons and continued on without stopping was eventually charged by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office with Driving While Intoxicated.
According to deputies, the driver of the car, 69-year-old James Blankenberg, of Clifton Springs, displayed signs of intoxication, including the odor of alcohol, when they made contact with him. A standardized field sobriety test was given leading to Blankenberg’s arrest for DWI. Subsequent breath alcohol testing confirmed Blankenbeg had a blood alcohol content of .14%.
Blankenberg was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing before being taken to the Wayne County Jail for processing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
