Three local men face charges after police say they found them driving a stolen car that had drugs and illegal handguns inside.
State Police stopped the vehicle on State Route 13 in the town of Veteran for speeding. After learning the vehicle had been reported stolen out of the city of Ithaca, a search of the car turned up a quantity of cocaine and well as four illegal handguns that were loaded and two of which had defaced serial numbers.
Arrested were:
Diyandre Y. Harriett, 18 years old from Ithaca, charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, (C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, (A Felony) and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (D Felony).
Charles M. Nembhard, 19 years old from Freeville, charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, (C Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, (A Felony).
Marcellus A. Smith, 18 years old from Painted Post, charged with 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, (C Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, (A Felony)
All three men were arraigned in the Village of Horseheads Court and sent to the Chemung County Jail on $1 million cash or $2 million bond bail pending future court proceedings.
