The investigation into a suspicious incident reported to the Seneca Falls Police Department resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old boy on felony charges of burglary and conspiracy.
On December 16th, Seneca Falls Police Department officers responded to a shared apartment building where it was reported by the owner/landlord that someone was inside a vacant apartment. Police located 2 individuals, one of them being a seventeen-year-old male, inside the apartment that fled the scene. The seventeen-year-old, who also had a county juvenile delinquent arrest warrant, was located with assistance from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and placed in custody. Officers on scene determined there was damaged property inside the apartment that is believed to be from the seventeen-year-old male, whose name is being withheld due to his age, and the other individual that was located inside the apartment.
Police have not located the second individual who fled the scene and are working to identify and charge that individual at this time.
The seventeen-year-old was charged as an Adolescent Offender with the felony offenses of Burglary in the Second Degree and Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree along with the misdemeanor offenses of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Tampering in the Third Degree. The teenage male was turned over to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office on the charges related to the juvenile delinquent arrest warrant and custody of the male was later turned over to the Seneca County Probation Department for detention in a secure youth facility pending arraignment in Seneca County Supreme Court (Youth Part) on the charges from this incident.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
