A 17-year-old is facing DWI charges following an investigation into a motor vehicle accident.
Deputies responded around 12:36 a.m. on July 8th to the area of Grant Avenue Road and Mutton Hill Road in the Town of Sennett for a reported motor vehicle accident. Investigators say the teen was driving a pickup truck westbound on Grant Avenue Road when the vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane, left the roadway, and struck several road signs and a parked car in a nearby lot.
The truck then reentered the road before exiting again, hitting a curb at the intersection with Mutton Hill Road. The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and later provided a breath sample showing a blood alcohol content of 0.20%.
The juvenile was charged with DWI – First Offense, Aggravated DWI, and multiple traffic violations.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
