Wayne D. Marks
Wayne D. Marks, 93, of Moravia, NY, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Groton Community Health Care Facility after a long illness.
Wayne was born July 11, 1932, in Venice Center, a son of Thomas & Eunice Warner Marks. He was a long-time resident of Moravia. He graduated from Moravia Central School, for which he was a letterman running back on the football team. He enlisted in the Army, serving from November 8, 1954, to October 17, 1957. He had been employed at Smith Corona Typewriter, also at Ithaca Gun making barrels. Lastly, the Miller Bottling Plant in Auburn, where he worked countless overtime hours in the hundred-plus degree glass shop, until his retirement in 1996.
Wayne married Marjorie Ruth Donald on October 3, 1959, and they have celebrated 66 years of marriage. Wayne was a collector. He collected baseball cards, model cars and trains, coins, and even beer steins. He also collected smiles, as he was a man of great wit and humor. He was known all over for his curled-up mustache. He coached little league and played in numerous dart leagues in the surrounding areas. He had a constant drive to provide for and support his family in any way possible. There is absolutely nothing that brought him more pride than his family.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie, now living in Groton; two sons, David & wife Tammy Marks, Michael Marks; and daughter Debra Marks, all residing near Moravia. Grandchildren include Tamara Hovey, Zachary Marks, Nico Wayne Aragon, and Kursten Ward. A daughter, Donna Marks, predeceased him in 1993, as well as two brothers, Richard & Lavern Marks, in later years.
There are no services scheduled at this time and will be held in the future at Indian Mound Cemetery, Moravia. Memorial contributions may be made to Four Town First Aid Squad, P.O.
