Virginia M. LaJuett
[Lima, NY] — Virginia M. LaJuett (née Madigan), age 92, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. Born on November 26, 1933, Virginia was the beloved daughter of the late Gerald S. and Margaret (Foley) Madigan. Raised in Lima, New York, she grew up in a vibrant, bustling household as one of nine children. Virginia (Ginny) went on to pursue her true calling in education, dedicating her professional life to the noble work of teaching, primarily at the kindergarten level. As a passionate educator, she shaped young minds with patience, kindness, and an enduring commitment to her students. Her life's work as a teacher extended far beyond the classroom, as she instilled a lifelong love of learning and curiosity in everyone she taught.
In 1965, Ginny married Robert Earl LaJuett in Monroe County, New York. They remained happily married for 44 years until Robert's passing in October 2009.
Virginia devoted her life to her family and her vocation. As a mother, she was a constant source of guidance and strength. Her legacy of love and warmth will forever live on through her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her four children: Rob (Sharon Brusic) LaJuett, Tom (Karen) LaJuett, Gerald (Candace) LaJuett, and Nancy LaJuett; her grandchildren, Elena Bernazzoli, Andreea LaJuett, and Morgan LaJuett; her surviving sisters, Madeline Dir and Rev. Kathleen Madigan; her surviving brother, Robert (Joan) Madigan; and many cherished nieces, nephews, former students, and lifelong friends. Ginny was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert; her parents; her brothers, Thomas Madigan, Gerald Madigan Jr., and Richard Madigan; and her sisters, Eleanor Morris and Teresa 'Terri' Harrington.
Friends may call Friday, June 19, from 4-7 pm at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home, Inc., 59 Monroe Street, Honeoye Falls, NY. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 20, at 9:30 am at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Road, Livonia, NY, Rev. William Laird, Celebrant. Burial will follow privately at Pine Hill Cemetery, Rush, NY, at a later date to be determined.
