Versa I. Donk

Savannah: Versa I. Donk, age 92 of Savannah departed this earth to be with the Lord on Friday, May 21st at the DeMay Living Center in Newark following a brief illness. Born September 18, 1917 in Sanford, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Gertha Rivers. She became a longtime resident of Savannah, moving there following her marriage to Orville F. Donk on April 21, 1937.

Versa was retired from 27 years of service as a lab technician for General Electric, at their Clyde and Auburn facilities. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, as well as a friend to many. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Savannah.

Versa is survived by sons Richard (Patti) of Kent, NY, and Greg (Connie) of Savannah; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Orville, daughter Francine, her parents, sisters Edna Mills, Leta Hyatt, and brothers Emory, Edward, and Robert Rivers.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 1-3 p.m. with her funeral service immediately following at the Colvin-Norton Funeral Home, 13081 West Church Street, Savannah. Interment will be at the Butler-Savannah Cemetery on Route 89. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be directed to the Congregational Church of Savannah.
