Thomas D. McGuane

Tom McGuane, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Laurel House in Newark.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 5, at noon at St. Mary’s Church, 35 Center Street. Burial with full military honors will follow at 2 PM at the NYS Veteran’s Cemetery, Romulus.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Laurel House, 224 Fair Street, Newark, NY 14513. Tom’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff for the love and support shown to their father.

Tom was born on November 11, 1932, in Waterloo, NY, the son of the late Daniel T. and Sarah V. (Murphy) McGuane. He graduated from Waterloo Central School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. Following his military service, Tom worked for many years as a dedicated letter carrier with the United States Post Office.

He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fan of college sports—especially Notre Dame Football and girls’ basketball.

Tom is survived by his daughters, Mary (Mike) Hryzak and Kathleen (Robert) Middlebrook; his sons, Patrick (Kim) McGuane and J. Michael (Rita) McGuane; grandchildren Caitlin (Kyle) Kiser, Christine and Sarah Hryzak, and Caroline (Jake) Klossner, David, Emilie, Jack, and Tommy McGuane; great grandchild Chase Kiser; his brother, Jimmy (Alice) McGuane; sisters-in-law Carolyn McGuane; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his brothers, Jerry and Jack McGuane; sister-in-law Connie McGuane.
