Marcellus, NY June 9, 1933 – June 4, 2026 Age 92

Thomas H. Esterguard of Marcellus, NY passed away peacefully at age 92 on June 4, 2026. Born June 9th, 1933 on Staten Island, NY, Tom was the son of Callista V. and Henry W. Esterguard. The family moved to Marcellus, NY in 1942 where Tom attended Marcellus Central Schools. A devout Catholic, Tom served as an altar boy for his uncle, the late Father George Esterguard, and for his cousins, the late Fathers Fred and Andrew Lawrence, as well as at St. Francis Xavier Church in Marcellus for many years.

Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return home to Marcellus, he married Margaret Ann Kelly on May 18th, 1957. He was employed for many years as a bid estimator at Case Supply in Syracuse, where he was known for his outstanding customer rapport. Tom was also an unusually talented handyman who could fix almost anything!

Tom loved golfing in the summer, bowling in the winter, the Yankees, and time with family and friends. Tom and Marg were blessed with a lifelong friend group who called themselves "The Highfalutins," with whom they shared many years of card games, parties, travel, and enthusiastic merriment.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, sister Callista Kirsch (Richard), sister Eileen Keller, and brother Ted: bowling partner, golf buddy, and best friend. He is additionally predeceased by his granddaughter Christine Kinas and grandson Patrick Cole.

Tom is survived by Margaret, his wife of 69 years; daughter Susan Kinas (Jeff Spriet), granddaughter Sarah Cole; daughter Mary Way (Rob), granddaughters Elizabeth (Michael Stowe) and Lauren (Joseph Kasprzyk); daughter Anne Mallore (Carmen), grandsons CJ (Tasha) and Sam (Kimmy Rivera); son Tom (Lisa), grandsons Tom (Jessica) and Chris (Patricia Bendala); brother Paul (Janet); sister-in-law and goddaughter Alice Esterguard; brother-in-law James Kelly (Kathleen); sister-in-law Kathy Kelly, along with 6 great-grandchildren and many devoted nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Iroquois Nursing Home for the loving care given to Tom while he was in residence there.

Calling hours will be Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 3 to 6 PM at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated the next morning, Friday, June 19 at 11 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Camillus.
