Theresa M. Pilla

Theresa M. Pilla, age 93, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at The Commons on St. Anthony.

Born as the daughter of the late John and Carmella (Charles) Pilla, Theresa lived a life defined by faith and service to others. A very devout Catholic and a dedicated communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Theresa touched the lives of many with her quiet, kind, and gentle demeanor, offering comfort to all who were blessed to be in her presence. Her commitment to her faith was reflected in her active service as a member of The Sacred Heart Society, where she spent many hours volunteering at the church.

Theresa was a talented baker and seamstress; gifts she used to bring joy to those around her. Alongside her late sister and best friend, Madeline, Theresa dedicated her time to crafting dolls for children who were patients in various hospitals. She and her sister were both generous souls who supported numerous organizations and charities each year. Whether she was crafting, baking, or simply supporting her friends and family in any endeavor, Theresa found her greatest joy in making others happy, never expecting anything in return.

Theresa was a graduate of Central High School. Theresa worked at General Electric in Auburn, New York, and Syracuse, New York, before retirement.

Theresa is survived by her first cousin, Evelyn (Cristello) VanBuren. In addition, Theresa is survived by many cousins and their families locally, in New York City, Long Island, and Italy. Theresa was predeceased by her parents, John and Carmella (Charles) Pilla, and her beautiful sister, Madeline A. Pilla, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the third-floor staff at The Commons on St. Anthony, the administration, and her roommate and friend Ms. Bruno.

A calling hour will be held on Thursday, July 9th, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church. A Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 11:00 am in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
