Terry J. Fisk
Terry James Fisk, 81, of Ithaca, New York, passed away peacefully in his home on July 13, 2026, with his family by his side.
He was born on February 20, 1945, in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, to Harold and Eleanor (Knapp) Fisk. Terry was one of 11 children who grew up on a farm in the small town of Millville, Pennsylvania; population of around 900 and one single traffic light. After high school, he immediately began working. A few years later, he met his wife Rosemary, and they married on February 20, 1965. He and Rosemary celebrated both his birthday and their anniversary on the same day, a choice perhaps made so he would never forget their special day. They were married for 61 years.
As a third-generation construction worker, he followed job opportunities and moved to Ithaca, NY, in 1966, where he built a beautiful home and life for his family. He took great pride in carrying on a family tradition of craftsmanship. Through his example, that legacy has continued for two more generations; his son "Spike" and grandson Cody have successfully followed in his footsteps. Only time will tell how long this family legacy will continue.
Terry worked hard for many years for McGuire & Bennett General Contractors; he managed the completion of many of Cornell University's beautiful architectural buildings, as well as Guthrie Hospital in Sayre, PA. Terry was a longtime member of the local carpenters union and the Ithaca Elks Lodge.
Following retirement, Terry and Rosemary spent several enjoyable years traveling to North Fort Myers, Florida, during the colder months. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling in the Adirondacks. Family was everything to him. He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. He built beautiful homes for his children and shared his talents by completing countless projects for friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Rosemary; and his brothers, Harold, Marvin, William, and Kenneth. He is survived by his son, Terrance (Pam) Fisk of Ithaca, NY; his daughter, Lisa (Scott) Gelatt of Manlius, NY; his grandchildren, Cassidy, Cody (Allysa), Abby, and Emma; his sisters, Lenora, Gail, Mary Lou, Diane, and Karen Ann; and his brother, Steven.
To his family, he was more than a father, grandfather, and loved one—he was our hero. He led by example, showing us the value of hard work, resilience, kindness, and unconditional love. Through life's triumphs and challenges, he remained our source of strength, guidance, and encouragement. He will be deeply missed by many; he will forever be our hero and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Road, Lansing, NY. Terry will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Ithaca, following a private ceremony with family.
