Susan E. English

Susan E. English, 75, of Groton, passed away on July 25, 2026, at Cayuga Medical Center.

Susan was born April 24, 1951, in Cortland, the daughter of the late Robert R. and Doris (Weaver) Whitmore. A lifelong Groton resident, Sue graduated from Groton Central School, Class of 1969, and Corning Community College. She was a retired officer with the First National Bank of Groton, where she had worked her entire career. Most important to Sue was her beloved family.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur "Art" English, of Groton; a daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Jason Space, of Southport, NC; grandchildren, Jacob and Natalie Space; great-grandson, Shawn Space; sisters-in-law Joanne Madigan, Julie Whitmore, and Donna English; and nephews and nieces, Steve and Tim Whitmore, Brittany Barillaro, and Kimberly Knight Batzer and their families.

In addition to her parents, Sue was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberly English; her brother, Thomas "Duke" Whitmore; and brother-in-law, David English.

At Susan's request, there are no public services. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, are recommended to the Groton Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 96, Groton, New York 13073.
