Stanley Oliver

In Loving Memory of Stanley Earl Oliver.

Stanley Earl Oliver (aka "Stan the Mobil Man"), a man of remarkable steadfastness, loyalty, and quiet affection, has passed away, leaving a lasting mark on his family and his community. As the youngest of nine children, Stanley learned early on how to navigate the world without ever needing to be the loudest voice in the room. He simply didn't have to be. Stanley was extremely loyal and reliable; you don't stay at the same job for 37 years—working at Chuck's Mobil and their sister store, C&C Tobacco, under the same owners—without being someone people can implicitly count on.

Stanley had his own unique language. He was a local legend, yet he managed to command affection and respect while communicating almost entirely through grunts, mumbles, and waves. You couldn't walk down the street with him without someone calling out to say hi. He didn't need grand speeches to connect with people; his steady, consistent presence and a simple, familiar wave were more than enough to let you know he saw you and that he cared.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Bunny Oliver; his daughter, Genevieve Oliver; his son, Lee Oliver; his son-in-law, Cody Jacintho; his sister, Aggie House; his brother, Harold Oliver; and his many beloved nieces and nephews.

Stanley leaves behind a legacy of hard work, quiet strength, and a town that will deeply miss him. We will miss the waves, we will miss the mumbles, and most of all, we will miss the incredibly good man behind them. Rest in peace, Stanley.
