Shawn Michael Monk

Shawn Michael Monk, born November 2, 1998 in Ithaca, NY passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 in Montour Falls, NY at the age of 20. Shawn attended Dryden Central School and TST BOCES. He worked at various jobs in the area, most recently Grover's Lawn Care of Ithaca. Shawn was a thrill seeker who enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, four wheelers, watching dirt track racing and bringing smiles and laughter to all who was around him; but most of all he loved to spend time with his children. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Lucille Weeks and his grandfather, Sonny Monk. Shawn is survived by his fiancé, Tyler Rose, his children, Nadeline and Brantley Monk; sisters, Charlene Rose and Kathleen Beebe; brother, Joseph Monk; parents, Charles and Heaven Monk; maternal grandparents, Glenn and Stacey Beebe; grandmother, Babbie Hart, many aunts, uncles, cousins and his biological mother, Tonya Monroe. Friends are invited to call on Monday, December 17, 2018 from 10-11 AM at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main Street Dryden NY with a Funeral Service to follow at 11 AM with Rev. Sam Neno officiating. Burial will be in Rose Cemetery, Groton, NY.
