Sandra M. Pottorff

Savannah, NY February 12, 1943 – March 8, 2015 Age 72

Savannah: Sandra (Sandy) Jean Pottorff, age 72, a lifelong resident of Savannah, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2015, of cancer at Rochester General Hospital.

Honoring the family's wishes, there are no prior calling hours, and a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

A spirited and cheerful woman, Sandy lived a life of giving and kindness to all with whom she came in contact. As a registered nurse for years, she provided loving and thoughtful care to hundreds of patients and touched many lives as both a hospital nurse and a visiting home health care nurse. She was also an accomplished pianist and organist and faithfully brought countless hours of her special music to the Sunday services at both the Savannah Methodist Church and the Savannah Community Church.

Besides her constant devotion and attention to her family, her job, and her church, Sandy's life was never without her beloved four-legged companions: There were many, many stray dogs and homeless cats (and maybe an occasional raccoon) that always managed to somehow find Sandy's home! She took them all in, lovingly nurturing and caring for them as part of her extended family. Not one was ever turned away!

Sandy will be dearly missed by her loving, constant companion and husband, Earl Terry; her children Darrell (Jackie) Foster and Holly Foster; granddaughter Mariah Foster; brothers Neil (Kathy) Malone and Steve Malone; nephews Trevor (Sharon) Jackson, Raymer (Lauren) Malone; nieces Trena Jackson Fisher and Jessica (Darren) DeVito; as well as her special grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Elwood and Ruth Malone, and a dear sister-in-law, Terri Malone.

For anyone wishing to honor Sandy's life and memory, donations may be made in her name to the Savannah Community Church at 13368 Seneca Street, Savannah, NY 13146. Arr: Norton Funeral Home of Savannah.
