Sandra M. Berry

Sandra M. Berry (Nusbaum), formerly of Reading Center, NY, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at Rochester General Hospital at the age of 88. She is preceded by her parents, Truman Nusbaum and Marion Nusbaum Sheeler, and by her loving husband of 63 years, Raymond.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Smugereski, and the light of her life, her precious granddaughter, Catherine. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Sandra worked at Watkins Glen Middle School for many years, first working in the reading program, then ultimately working with 5th through 8th grade students in the computer room. Even though Sandra was blessed with only one child, each of her "kids" held a special place in her heart.

Sandra was an active member of the Reading Community Church prior to her move to Webster. She could always be counted on to help in any church activity, including participation in numerous church fundraisers. Her favorite fundraisers were the famous pig roasts, where the entire community came together to show their support for the church.

Sandra will be remembered for her infectious smile, her humorous nature, and her love for anything chocolate, but most of all for her love of family and friends. We will not mourn that she is gone but that she lived and touched many lives.

A Celebration of Life and gathering will be held on June 6th from 2-4 PM at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen. The family is grateful for the care Sandra received at Rochester General Hospital during her final days. We are also grateful for the staff at BayCreek Dialysis for the wonderful care she received during her dialysis treatments.
