Palmyra: Ruth Baker, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Clifton Springs Hospital, with her loving family by her side.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ruth's life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, 123 W. Main Street, Palmyra, New York.

Ruth was born on August 15, 1935, in Canandaigua, New York, the daughter of the late Leon and Louise (Hanggi) Benson. She graduated from Canandaigua Academy and, alongside her beloved husband, Raymond Baker, owned and operated the Port Gibson Restaurant. Ruth found joy in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed painting, reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time fishing with Raymond on Cayuga and Seneca Lakes. She was always thinking of others and had a special way of showing her love through thoughtful acts of kindness for those she cared about. Above all, she treasured the time she shared with her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Cunningham; her brother, Robert Benson; her grandchildren, Thomas James (Mindy) Cunningham VI, Rebecca (Craig) Ikewood, and Melissa Cunningham; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Ruth was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Benson, and her son-in-law, Thomas James Cunningham V.

Ruth will be remembered for her kindness, hardworking spirit, and the love she shared with those fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will be cherished by her family and all who called her a friend.
