Roy H. Murray, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Newark Wayne Community Hospital.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, October 29, at Norton Funeral Home, 13081 W. Church Street, Savannah. Calling hours will be held from 12:00–2:00 PM and 4:00–6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Thursday, October 30, at noon at Butler Savannah Cemetery.

Born on February 11, 1946, in Ogdensburg, Roy was the son of the late John and Delvina (Martin) Murray. He spent much of his working life at Reckio Potato Farms and Peter Hermann’s Saw Mill, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Roy was a passionate sports fan and a talented ball player in his own right. He cherished simple pleasures—especially sharing coffee and conversation with friends at the 104 store, where his warmth and humor left a lasting impression.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine Greene; his children, Brooke, Heather, and Heath Greene, and Lacy (Demetrio) Alvarez; grandchildren Austin Greene, Sierra El Hammani, Cheyenne and Alexis Greene, and Demetrio Jr. and Liliana Alvarez; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Roy was predeceased by several brothers and sisters, whose memories he carried with love.

Roy will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love for family, and the friendships he nurtured throughout his life.
