Dundee: Rose Marie Vanaman, age 54, of Dundee, NY, died from injuries sustained in an auto accident on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. Friends are invited to call from 5-8 pm Monday (July 23) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday (July 24) at the Barrington Community Church, 4560 Old Bath Rd, Dundee, with her father-in-law Rev. Gerald Vanaman officiating. Burial will follow in the Barrington Community Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barrington Community Church, P.O. Box 73, Dundee, NY 14837.
Rose was born August 15, 1957, in Hornell, NY, the daughter of the late James Stevens and Velma Perry Stevens. On August 10, 1996, in the Barrington Community Church, she married James E. Vanaman. She has lived locally since 1990, previously of Corning, NY. Rose was employed by Sunrise Landing, Bed and Breakfast in Dundee. A devoted NY "Yankee" fan, which she was affectionately called by her friends, who she enjoyed camping with at Paradise Park Campground.
She is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband and soulmate of over 15 years, James E. Vanaman, at home; a daughter, Kathy M. (Ted) Wakeland of Cottondale, FL; a son, Richard (Barb) Hiveley of Savona, NY; 3 grandchildren, Allissa Mudd, Morgan Hiveley, Melanie Hiveley; her mother, Velma Stevens of Corning; 3 brothers, Richard (Violet) Stevens, Dale Stevens, both of Bath, NY, Tracy Stevens of Cameron, NY; 3 sisters, Betty Osatchuck of Corning, Virginia Peterson of Henderson, NC, Debbie (Fran) Maynard of Dundee; numerous nieces, nephews, several in-laws on the Vanaman side; and countless friends.
