Ronald V. Durling

Trumansburg, NY September 9, 1951 – June 18, 2026 Age 74

Ronald V. Durling, lifelong resident of Trumansburg, passed away on June 18, 2026, at the age of 74. His life was one deeply rooted in commitment to family, community, and the land he cherished.

Born on September 9, 1951, in Ithaca, Ron was a son of the late Clyde and Gladys (Terry) Durling. A graduate of Charles O. Dickerson High School in Trumansburg, class of 1969, Ronald carried the values of hard work and perseverance into every facet of his life. His early career took him to Ehrhart's, and later he worked an impressive 25 years at the Town of Ulysses Highway Department. Yet, it was the family farm that truly defined Ron. He always considered himself, first and foremost, a farmer—a role he approached with equal parts skill and passion. Ron's wisdom, stories, and instruction on the nuances of farming created enduring memories for those fortunate enough to learn from him.

Home was Ronald's true sanctuary. He loved nothing more than spending time at the farm with his family by his side.

Ronald leaves behind his wife, Marcia Durling; children, Ronda (Bob) Landon and Kirby (Liz) Durling; grandchildren, Asa, Emma, and Ava; brother, Wayne (Jacqui) Durling; sister-in-law, Laura Durling; mother-in-law, Nancy VanDerzee; brothers and sister-in-law, Fred VanDerzee, Carol (Kent) VanDerzee, and Rodney (Terri) VanDerzee; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Richard "Dick" Durling; sister, Donna Miller; and father-in-law, Lloyd VanDerzee.

In keeping with Ron's wishes, there will be no services. The family asks those that would like to make a contribution in Ron's memory to kindly consider T-burg Takes on Pediatric Cancer, PO Box 555, Trumansburg, NY 14886, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Central New York, Ava Durling, 200 Gateway Park Drive, Bldg C, Syracuse, NY 13212.
