Robert C. Prior

Robert C. Prior, age 72, of Dundee, NY, died Sunday, August 11, 2013, at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls, NY.

There are no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday (August 16) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, with Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, with a reception after. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Sports Boosters Varsity Baseball, P.O. Box 53; the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St.; or the Dundee V.F.W., 125 Seneca St. Ext., Dundee, NY 14837.

Robert was born June 14, 1941, in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Walter and Virginia Andrus Prior. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1959. A dock worker for Penn Yan Express for many years, he retired in 2003 after more than 25 years with Suit-Kote of Watkins Glen, NY. Mr. Prior was a member of the Dundee United Methodist Church, Dundee V.F.W., Dundee American Legion, and the Montour Falls Moose Lodge. "Bob" was a star catcher for the only D.C.S. Sectional winning baseball team in 1958; he was an avid sports fan all his life, especially of the Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, movies, and socializing with friends.

He is survived and will be missed by 2 daughters, LeAnne K. Bunn, with whom he made his home; Polly L. (Daniel) Hughes of Tully, NY; a son, Robert K. (Lora) Prior of Dundee; 10 grandchildren, Andrea, Matthew, and Nicholas Bunn, Jake, Samantha, and Amanda Hughes, Mackenzie, Colin, Jessica, and Ryan Prior; a great granddaughter, Kaelee Bunn-Smith; 2 brothers, Bill (Connie) Prior of Dundee, Michael (Charlene) Prior; and a sister, Wendy (Howard) Butters, both of Elmira; and several nieces and nephews.
