Robert Joseph Morusty

Robert Joseph Morusty, 77, of Groton, passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2026. Bob was born on December 10, 1948, in Ithaca, a son of the late Michael Joseph and Winifred Roseada (Mourhess) Morusty. He was a graduate of the Ithaca City School District and a lifelong area resident.

Bob enjoyed a long career in sales, specializing in photo albums and finishing packages. He was an avid NY Yankees fan, exhibiting an enthusiasm for the teams that endures through his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Squadron 800, Sons of the American Legion.

Bob enjoyed being at his grandchildren's games to cheer them on. He enjoyed driving all his grandchildren to school each morning. He loved writing out batting statistics while he waited in the car for family to come up. He loved being a father and grandfather to all his kids and grandkids.

He is survived by a daughter, Faith Morusty, and a son, Robert Morusty, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Rose (Salce) Morusty; grandchildren: Zoe, Jason, Jr., Heaven, Angel, Damian, Justice, Alex, and Scott; great-grandchildren: Holly, Drayson, Uthred, and Alastriona; sisters: Janet Cleary, Michelle Adams, Marjorie Foote, and Sharon Morusty; sisters-in-law: Serena Sill and Stacy Adams; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Sheila Marie (Adams) Morusty, on October 19, 2023. His family grieves the loss of Bob's son, Jason Michael Robert Morusty, who also perished on April 10, 2026.

Friends may call from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Sunday, April 19, at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Avenue, Groton, where a Memorial Service for Bob and Jason will begin at 1:00 PM. A celebration of life will follow services at Carrington-Fuller Post 800 American Legion. Interment at a later time will be in Bird Cemetery, Locke.
