Bluff Point: Richard Coy Bedient, age 48, of Penn Yan, N.Y., died Monday, September 26, 2011, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Friends are invited to call from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 4) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee. A private memorial service with Elder Jerry Heusler officiating will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Yates County, P.O. Box 12, Penn Yan, NY 14527, or Ontario-Yates County Hospice Assoc., 756 Pre-Emption Rd., Geneva, NY 14456.

Coy was born September 7, 1963, in Montour Falls, NY. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1981. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves. On September 1, 2001, in Wayne, NY, he married the former Loma Brooks. A lifelong area resident and self-employed Owner Operator, he loved driving his tractor and trailer. Coy was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Geneva and O.O.I.D.A. (Owner Operator Independent Drivers Assoc.). In his spare time, he enjoyed motorcycles, wood carving, drawing, spending time with his grandchildren, and caring for his animals. Throughout his illness, he never lost his sense of humor.

He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 10 years, Loma Bedient, at home; children Jacklyn (Brett) Siegrist of Dresden, Shea R. Bedient of Bluff Point, Cassidy J. World of Penn Yan, Cathy Trank, and Debbie Hatton, both of Hall; 6 grandchildren; his parents Laura (Rick) Morley Sr. of Wesley Chapel, FL; 3 sisters Carlene (Ray) Stuyvesant of Corning, Kimberly Bedient Adams of Penn Yan, Donna (Mark) Wollschleger of Bloomfield; a brother Rick Morley Jr. of Dundee; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Leslie Marie Morley.
