Peggy (Andre) Vivenzio

Auburn, NY October 29, 1951 – June 29, 2026 Age 74

Peggy Lea Vivenzio, a lifelong resident of Auburn, New York, passed away peacefully Monday, June 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 29, 1951, Peggy lived a life rooted in compassion, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.

Peggy graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1969 before earning her Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Cayuga Community College. She dedicated her professional life to serving others through her work at Mutual of Omaha, as a pharmacy technician at Kmart, and later as a preschool teacher at Cayuga Community College, where her nurturing spirit and gentle nature touched the lives of countless children and families.

While Peggy's career was meaningful, her greatest calling was her family. She shared 54 years of marriage with her beloved husband, James Vivenzio, building a life centered on love, faithfulness, and enduring partnership. Together, they raised two children, and Peggy devoted herself wholeheartedly to caring for her son, Jamie, whose special needs inspired a lifetime of extraordinary patience, strength, and unconditional love. Jamie remained the joy of her heart until his passing, and her devotion to him reflected the boundless compassion that defined her life.

Peggy also found immeasurable happiness in her daughter, Christine (Michael) Waby, and cherished every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren, Skylar and Brayden. Whether sharing stories, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying time together, family was always at the center of Peggy's heart.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jamie Vivenzio; her parents, William and Gladys Andre; her sister, Gloria Jupin; her brother, Mark Andre; and her niece, Maggie Race.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, James Vivenzio Jr.; her devoted daughter, Christine (Michael) Waby; her treasured grandchildren, Skylar and Brayden; her sister, Nancy Andre; her brother, William (Chris) Andre Jr.; her brother-in-law, Michael Jupin; many cherished nieces and nephews; and her lifelong best friend, Phyllis Allen, whose friendship was a constant source of love and support throughout the years.

Those who knew Peggy will remember her gentle heart, quiet strength, and remarkable ability to make others feel loved. She was selfless in every sense of the word, always placing the needs of others before her own and offering comfort, encouragement, and kindness without hesitation. Her warmth was felt not through grand gestures, but through the everyday acts of love that became the hallmark of her life.

Though her family grieves the loss of her presence, they find comfort in the countless memories she created and the enduring example she set. Peggy's life reminds us that the greatest measure of a person is not found in titles or accomplishments, but in the love they give, the lives they touch, and the family they leave forever changed for the better. Her love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing.

Calling hours are this Thursday, July 2nd from 10 am to 12 pm in the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., followed by her mass of Christian burial at 12:30 Thursday in St. Mary’s Church. Burial is in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
