Myron "Mike" Sherman Jr.
Myron "Mike" Sherman Jr., age 76 of Ithaca, NY, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Cayuga Medical Center.
Born August 10, 1943, in Ithaca, NY, he was a US Army Veteran serving from 1960 to 1962. Mike was a cook and former co-owner of Charlie's Diner in Dryden, NY. In his early years, he was an avid bowler who won many tournaments and was involved in several local bowling leagues. In his later years, he delivered papers for the Ithaca Journal. During his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his teenage grandchildren. Mike was a loving grandfather and husband who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Springstead Sherman; children: Bryan Sherman of Trumansburg, NY; John F. Sherman of Ovid, NY; Myron I. Sherman III of Rochester, NY; Karrie Harper-Sherman of Rochester, NY; and Jesse Gordon Sherman of Albany, NY. Siblings: Josephine Cooke of Elmira, NY; Robert Leonard Jr. of Burlington, VT. Stepchildren: James W. Bray of Groton, NY; Melissa (James) Cooper of Groton, NY; Victoria (Jack) Cooper of Groton, NY; Robert (Melissa) Bray of Carthage, NC; and Sarah (Shane) Kirkey of Scipio, NY, as well as 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mike is preceded by his parents, Virginia Robinson and Myron I. Sherman Sr.; daughters: Beatrice Virginia Sherman (1962) and Christiana Ann Sherman (2001); and siblings: Charlotte Sherman and Corr Leonard.
There will be no funeral services or calling hours. The family will hold a private celebration to honor Mike's life in the spring.
